Dr Mikaela Grayson | Clinical Psychologist

WHO AM I?
I’m Mikaela. I grew up in rural Queensland and completed my undergraduate studies and clinical training in Brisbane.

I worked with children in out of home care throughout my undergraduate degree and also have several years’ experience working in the public sector across different services including: community mental health, paediatric outpatient clinic, and telehealth for smoking cessation. I have been working in private practice sine 2020.

After what seemed like an eternity of study, I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2022. My thesis explored executive function differences in children with disruptive behaviours. If you’re interested in reading more about my research, you can check it out here. Throughout my study, I was a research assistant on a number of projects and taught in undergraduate psychology and counselling programs.

I am passionate about providing high quality mental health care to regional and rural Queenslanders. My goal is to help those in my community to make positive and meaningful change in their life.

Outside the office, you’ll find me drinking long blacks (let’s be real, that happens at the office too), reading a good book, and relishing time in the sunshine.

WHAT DO I DO?
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist working from Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, and Taribelang Bunda land in Gladstone, Queensland.

I am the director of a local psychology practice, Sage Psychology & Assessment. This is also where I see clients. You can find out more about my services here.

I am a board-approved supervisor and am the local co-ordinator for the Gladstone Mental Health Professionals Network (MHPN).

Although my academic endeavours have taken a back seat while Sage is in its infancy, I love to teach tertiary level students. I also can’t wait to get back into designing and carrying out exciting new research projects. If you are interested in collaborating on a research project please get in touch.
